This year’s Members Exhibition theme is Civic/Civil Engagement. Realizing that the election looms large this year, rather than trying to ignore it, we asked our artists to explore what civil civic engagement means to them and how they express their perspectives through printmaking. The work on view demonstrates their efforts to contribute to the discourse in a constructive way to bring about greater understanding.
Carey Mack Weber – Executive Director, Fairfield University Art Museum
Carey Mack Weber has served as the Frank and Clara Meditz Executive Director of the Fairfield University Art Museum since 2019. Ms. Weber has over 25 years of experience working in museums and galleries. She spent more than a decade working in fine art galleries in New York City, notably serving as Director of Susan Sheehan Gallery and Edward Tyler Nahem Fine Art. She was integral to the creation of the university’s art museum in 2010, assisting Dr. Jill Deupi, the founding director, in developing exhibitions, programming, setting up the Collections Management systems, and creating policies. The Museum, which is comprised of the Bellarmine Hall Galleries and the Walsh Gallery in the Quick Center for the Arts, was accredited by the American Alliance of Museums earlier this year. Ms. Weber also serves as the President of the Connecticut Art Trail, a nationally recognized partnership between twenty-four world-class museums and historic sites. She is the CT State Representative for the Association of Academic Art Museums and Galleries, is on the Advisory Board of the Maguire Museum at St. Joseph’s University, and is on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut League of Museums. She is an active member of the American Alliance of Museums, the New England Museum Association, and the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County.
