Volunteering

Volunteering is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience while supporting the Center for Contemporary Printmaking’s goals as a nonprofit.

CCP accepts volunteers from all backgrounds and skillsets to aid our programming and other operations. Working individually or with our staff, volunteers can be assigned to projects that fit both their unique abilities and the needs of the organization.

Listed below are some of our common volunteer roles. If you have another idea, please contact us! We are open to new suggestions.

  • EVENT VOLUNTEER – An individual would be scheduled to volunteer for specific dates and times associated with an upcoming event. We invite volunteers to assist with community outreach programs, exhibition openings, MONOTHON Print Week, the Annual Benefit Auction and Party, and other events throughout the calendar.
  • STUDIO VOLUNTEER – Volunteers are scheduled on an as-needed basis to support large changes in our studios such as moving presses or equipment, preparing our studios for print events, and other facility projects.
  • EXHIBITION VOLUNTEER – Our galleries host four to five exhibitions per calendar year. Volunteers are sometimes needed to help our staff during installation and/or deinstallation. Tasks may include preparing art for hanging, spackling and repainting the gallery walls, and more. Assistance with the exhibition opening receptions is also needed.
  • ADMINISTRATIVE VOLUNTEER – This volunteer opportunity supports the organizational aspects of running a nonprofit art center. Those with an interest in the arts or the nonprofit field are welcome. No printmaking or arts knowledge is required for tasks such as providing assistance with light administrative work, data entry, writing and editing copy, creating website and social media content, or coordinating special events. Basic office software knowledge would be expected.

STUDIO MONITOR PROGRAM

In an effort to support early career printmakers, CCP has established a Studio Monitor Program which gives monitors access to our facilities in exchange for their time and dedication.

Studio Monitors are selected from our artist community and must demonstrate sufficient studio skills and responsibility. During volunteer hours, monitors must be available to answer questions from gallery visitors, assist artists working in the studios as needed, and perform general studio upkeep and maintenance tasks. CCP’s Studio Manager will vet potential monitors and coordinate monitor’s hours and assignments.

Program Details:

  • Monitors receive Individual Studio Membership benefits
  • Monitors may reserve studio time and work in the studios without incurring hourly studio fees
  • Monitors are usually scheduled in 3-4 hour blocks on Saturdays from 9 AM – 5 PM, Sundays from 12-5 PM, and select weekday evenings from 6-9 PM

Contact us at info@contemprints.org to inquire about becoming a Studio Monitor.
