MONOTHON 2024

Printmaking Fundraiser – Silver Anniversary

Monothon is the Center for Contemporary Printmaking’s biggest annual fundraiser. 2024 will be our 25th Monothon!
The Fundraiser takes place in two parts:

Monothon Session Sign Up ButtonPart 1: Print Week – September 22-28, 2024

Beginning Sunday and running through Saturday, CCP becomes a hive of activity during Print Week!

  • Master Printers from around the region join us to offer 5-hour Print Session Blocks for Artist Participants.
  • Artists of all levels sign up to work with a Master Printer during a 5-hour session. Together they create up to 10 Monotype Prints.
  • One of those 10 prints is chosen for inclusion in our Auction, alongside works from other great artists! The Participant keeps the rest of the prints from their session.
  • We make it easy! All materials are included. Clean-up is provided by our volunteers! A buffet-style lunch is set up each day for artists, printers, and volunteers.
  • A special Youth Monothon Session is held for teens at the end of Print Week on Sunday, September 29.
  • Print Week participants receive a free ticket to the Auction and Party.

Part 2: Auction and Party – Saturday, October 26, 2024 – 6-9 PM

Everyone is invited to join us for a catered celebration of Printmaking! Even if you’ve never made a print here, if you value what CCP brings to the community, attending the Auction & Party with your friends is a fantastic way to support our mission!

  • The Auction and Party is a ticketed event. We transform our historic stone building into a party space for one night only! Catering and beverages are included.
  • Guests and Artists place Silent Auction bids on the Monotypes created during Print Week.
  • A Live Auction caps off the evening with opportunities to bid on exceptional artworks, unique experiences, and more!

Artist giving a High Five with text Help Others Make ArtMONOTHON Sponsorships

MONOTHON is our biggest annual fundraiser. It begins in the early Fall with Print Week, a “Marathon of Monotype” printmaking in which artists and master printers work together to create hundreds of artworks. A selection of these prints are then included in the silent auction portion of our annual Auction and Party a month later.

Members of our community who want to support our MONOTHON Fundraiser without participating in Print Week themselves, can sponsor another artist’s session. This allows us to extend the opportunity to someone who might not otherwise be able to print with us. Thank you for your generosity!

Sponsorship levels are as follows:

  • Sponsor an Artist Print Session for $300
  • Sponsor a Youth Print Session for $150
  • Sponsor a Master Printer for $100
  • Provide Lunch for a Day During Print Week $75
  • Off-set Supplies for a Print Session $50
  • Tip our Hardworking Staff (any amount)

Click here to sponsor a portion of MONOTHON. Sponsors receive recognition in our Auction brochure, and all donations are tax deductible. Thank you!

FAQ

What is Monothon?
We have a whole page dedicated to that question! Click here.

Do I have to participate in the entire week of “Print Week”?
No. Artists and volunteers are only here for their registered 5-hour session(s). “Print Week” means you have a whole week of sessions to choose from.

May I choose which Master Printer I work with?
Unfortunately not. Scheduling our printers and artists is a complex task! We are often assigning printers to time slots right up to Print Week. We therefore cannot guarantee which printer an artist will work with. However, all of our printers are amazing professionals who are dedicated to providing the best Monothon experience!

When do I receive confirmation of my time slot?
We will contact all registered artists with their time slot assignments after Labor Day. Scheduling conflicts will be resolved on an individual basis as needed.

Are you offering Remote Monothon options this year?
Unfortunately, we have had to discontinue the Remote Monothon program for 2024 and beyond. If you were a remote participant in years past, we would still love for you to be part of Monothon! Please contact us for other ways to contribute.

I’m new here. What is a Monotype Print?
Welcome! “Monotypes” are one-of-a-kind prints that are usually created by applying ink to a plexiglass sheet and then running it through the press to transfer the ink to fine art paper. We made a ► 3-minute video demonstrating the basics. Then if you want more, this 4-minute video from MoMA illustrates how Degas used the process. More details about Monotypes and other Fine Art Printmaking terms can be found in our glossary.

How much experience do I need to participate as a Monothon Artist?
All levels of experience are welcome at Monothon. Even people who do not typically refer to themselves as “artists” can register and let the Master Printer guide them in the creative activity. Participants will indicate their level of experience on the registration form.

How should I prepare for my print session?
Preparation is an individual choice. Some artists arrive with a clear plan for the prints they want to make. Others wait for the inspiration of the moment. In any case, we encourage artists to be open to the guidance of the Master Printers during their sessions. You will be surprised where the perspective of a professional printer will take you! Part of the fun of Monothon is that discovery.
