Linda Herritt’s recent work isolates short phrases from popular culture or classic novels, combining accidental painterly effects with the predictable geometry of text.  Her installations and works on paper have been exhibited at Smack Mellon, The Boiler, and Pierogi in Brooklyn; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Denver; the San Francisco Art Institute; the Frist Center for the Arts, Nashville; 1K Project Space, Amsterdam; and Art&Idea, Mexico City, among others. She is the recipient of a Brooklyn Arts Fund Award, a NYFA Fellowship in Printmaking/Drawing/Book Arts, a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, a Rockefeller Foundation Grant, and a NEA Sculpture Fellowship. Herritt teaches in the studio art program at Pace University in New York.
