Allowing for a delicate balance of chance and control, Affourtit combines woodblock and monotype techniques to guide participants in the creation of a series of unique artworks. The class will use printmaking as a tool for producing complex textures, distinctive mark-making, and vivid layers of imagery and color, incorporating gesture and hand-drawn elements into their matrix. The instructor will introduce new techniques, including approaches to developing large-scale works with a woodblock matrix, as well as offer concentrated individual instruction to foster each participant’s individual goals and practice. This course is suitable for artists who are familiar with color printmaking and would like to develop their practice further.
