Trace monotype or transfer drawing, is a method of transferring ink/color from one surface to a piece of paper by direct pressure.  Utilized by artists such as Klee, Gauguin, and Michael Mazur, it is expressive, immediate, and accessible to all.  Christopher Shore will explain and demonstrate the process with an emphasis on mark-making, image development, and ghost printing possibilities using with both oil and water-soluble inks.  Come learn the basics and explore this simple yet sophisticated method of printmaking.

CHRISTOPHER SHORE is the Staff Master Printer at the Center for Contemporary Printmaking in Norwalk, CT.  He received his MFA in printmaking from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. Chris has studied printmaking techniques in Venice and Florence, Italy and has shown his work internationally. His work explores many types of traditional and non-traditional printmaking techniques.
