INTRO TO CYANOTYPE

This weekend workshop will introduce you to the basics of the Cyanotype printmaking-process. We will be using Cyanotype chemistry to print on various papers and other surfaces as well as exploring additives to the chemistry such as watercolor and gouache pigments. UV light will be used to create your images, ranging from objects (photograms), negatives or drawings on transparent or semi-opaque surfaces.

JO YARRINGTON is an artist, educator and curator. She has been in over 350 solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums in the United States, Germany, Italy, Scotland, Mexico, Iceland, Greece and China. She has been the recipient of numerous national and international Artist Fellowships and grants from, among others, the Pollock Krasner Foundation, the New York Foundation for the Arts, the Connecticut Commission on the Arts, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, the American Scandinavian Foundation, MacDowell, SIMS/ Iceland, Cill Rialaig/Ireland, the Museum of Glass, the Ucross Foundation, the Virginia Center for Creative Arts and the Museum of American Glass. She represented the United States at the Sharjah Biennial, United Arab Emirates and was a participant in the Berlin Biennial. In 2010 she won the Bronze Prize at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Skopje, Macedonia. Jo Yarrington currently lives and works in New York City and is a Professor of Studio Art in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Fairfield University.
