In this beginner etching workshop, participants will be introduced to the basics of copper etching. Techniques covered will include chemical alteration to copper plates by use of hard ground, soft ground, and aquatint, as well as acid free approaches to plate making. Traditional hand wiping of the plates will be demonstrated and then practiced by participants. Emphasis on creating strong and efficient work habits will be made for participants to keep throughout their printmaking practices.

NOMI SILVERMAN studied at the Art Students League of New York and the National Academy of Design. She is an experienced printmaker with numerous awards from the National Academy of Design, the National Arts Club, and others. Her work is widely exhibited. Visit Nomi at
