In this workshop, artists will learn various techniques of Encaustic printmaking on the heated palette using R&F Pigment Sticks as our ink. Also covered will be aspects of color mixing and layering to get luminous, complex, multi-layered prints and paintings. We will work on Encaustiflex, an absorbent microfiber paper that holds lots of paint layers. No press is required so you can take these techniques right back to your studio. Having a variety of printmaking techniques at hand allows you to never be at a loss for something to get you going in the studio. Just build and layer. All levels are welcome.
Printmaking Techniques we may explore in this Workshop include: Collagraph Prints, Monotypes on the Palette, Trace Monotypes, Paper Lithography, Relief Prints, Stencils and Masks, Gel Press Plates, Pigment Sticks with Encaustic, Suminagashi Marbling, Laser and Xerox Transfers, Stamps, and Sewing on prints.

Artist LESLIE GIULIANI received a B.F.A. from the University of Delaware and then pursued advanced studies in the materials of making art at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the Finishing School and the School of Sacred Arts. Giuliani received an Artist Fellowship Grant for Craft from the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism. She works as a painting and printmaking instructor. As a Core Support instructor for R&F Handmade Paints, an encaustic and oil paint manufacturer located in Kingston, NY., she offers technical support resources for practicing artists. Her work is included in the collections of the Housatonic Museum of Art and the State of Connecticut, as well as private and corporate collections.
