Workshop Description: Come explore the tactile and versatile printmaking technique of collagraphy. Learn how to build a collagraph plate from a variety of materials and techniques to create unique, textured prints. The instructor will provide step-by-step guidance, demonstrations, and individual support throughout the class. All levels and capable teens are welcome.
Key Term: Collagraphy – Collagraphy is a very sculptural process in which rather than carving lines into the plate, the image is built up in thin layers onto its surface. Starting with a sturdy substrate of matboard or similar material, the artist builds the design from cut out paper, card stock, fabric, string, netting, lace, feathers, drizzled and dried glue, etc. After everything is glued down and dried, the whole plate is varnished so that it can be easily inked and cleaned for multiple prints.
Workshop Location: Upstairs Studio – No Elevator
