In this 3-day online bookbinding workshop hosted via Zoom, participants will get a crash course in bookbinding for artists. The workshop will begin with simple pamphlet-stitch books that make excellent notebooks, zines, or small artist books. Participants will then learn to fold accordion books as well as a few variations on the accordion structure that work well for a variety of paper types and art making methods. The final day will cover making Drum Leaf lay-flat binding which is a versatile structure for all artists, but especially great for printmakers and photographers. Discussion will focus on problem solving, working with the materials and processes participants are already comfortable with in their own practices, and modifying the book structures to fit the needs of the artist. No previous experience required!
Please note, this is a 4 part class, taking place on 4 different days via Zoom.
