The Center for Contemporary Printmaking is celebrating 30 Years in 2025! For three decades, our historic site has been more than a place for creating art—it’s been a living, breathing symbol of the region’s artistic spirit and architectural history.
Thirty years ago in 1995, the Center was founded by Grace and William Shanley and a small group of artists with a big vision: to create a world-class printmaking center in Fairfield County. Since then, it has grown into a hub for professional and emerging artists, offering workshops, exhibitions, and even residencies—all focused on the power of print.
Today, the Center for Contemporary Printmaking is more than just a studio—it’s a community. It is a place where past and present come together, where history supports creativity, and where printmaking continues to evolve.
To celebrate its 30 Year Anniversary, the Center is hosting two special events. The 30th Anniversary Gala, held on Friday, May 9 from 6-9 PM, will take place at the acclaimed HMTX Headquarters, the House Up On The Hill in Norwalk, CT. Award winning for its green design, this beautiful building also houses an incredible art collection, which gala guests will be able to enjoy.
The following day, Saturday May 10, the Center itself will come alive with active printmaking in every studio. This 30th Birthday Open House is free and open to the public, and will feature printmaking activities throughout the day and a birthday cake celebration at 1:00. Witness staff and volunteers pulling limited-edition Anniversary posters off the press in front of your eyes! Posters and a commemorative art book will be for sale during the event.
It’s a once-in-decade event you don’t want to miss!
