Participants in this workshop will produce easily-reproducible painterly prints through the process of Silk Aquatint, a.k.a. Silk Collagraph. This is a non-toxic, non-acid alternative to etching, where the image is created by painting with white acrylic medium on top of a black silk surface glued to a plastic board to reproduce a wide variety of tones and textures. Once dry, the plate is then inked and wiped in the same manner as an etching plate and printed on an etching press. This workshop will also offer tips on color mixing, demonstrating the versatility of water based inks.
