Dear Members,
I am coming to you this year with a project. It has been some time since I last issued a Members’ Show theme with a direction behind it, but I think you’re all up for the challenge. In recognition of the many prints that are made but didn’t feel quite right, or weren’t finished and have not been revisited, or those that have been waiting for the right inspiration to reach completion, I am asking you all to dig into your print storage and pull out something that has been waiting for a final touch. I’d like you to use this time to try find whatever it is that makes the print “just right” and complete. The past print does not need to have been originally printed in the last year; it can be an older print. It just needs to have been completed after January 1, 2023, for this year’s exhibition. I am curious to see what you uncover from the drawers and flat files, and whether dedicating time to this theme becomes that last push that was needed to pull something great off of the press. When “the magic moment” comes and you look at the results, is it what you envisioned?
Kimberly Henrikson
Executive Director

Jenn Bratovich, Director of Exhibitions and Programs at Print Center New York
Jenn Bratovich is the Director of Exhibitions and Programs at Print Center New York, where she works with artists, publishers, curators, writers, and arts programmers to think about print. Since joining Print Center New York she has helped shepherd the organization through its move to a new, ground-floor exhibition space in the heart of Chelsea; contributed to sharpening the organization’s curatorial vision; and led development of a new exhibition and artist development program to support emerging artists. She has previously held positions at Hunter College Art Galleries and Women’s Studio Workshop, and holds an MA in art history from Hunter College. She is interested in how print fits into wider contemporary practices that include sculpture, installation, and performance.
